I woke up excited and amazed, with the memory of having had a wonderful talk with John, a close friend of mine who died in a small plane crash several months before. I had hugged him and told him how glad I was to see him. I asked him how things were. He said, "I'm fine, but it was an accident. I didn't have to die." He told me to tell his wife, Pam, how he wanted his papers handled and that he was doing fine.
Comment: This is a very good example of a dream that for all intent and purposes appears to be a contact with someone who has died. With dream yoga, you suspend your assumptions about such things and simply give the characters voice. In this instance, while the plane, John and Pam did validate that that was an actual contact with John, they also said that Jess was a part of this dreamer that is scripted to be self-destructive but has a choice to change that script.
