Comparisons/Contrasts
Integral Deep Listening is one form of dream yoga. There are many other forms, such as shamanic vision quests, and Hindu and Chinese dream yogas. The relationship of IDL to these traditions are compared and contrasted below. In addition, IDL is compared and contrasted to a number of contemporary popular approaches to healing and self-development, including psychoanalysis, Jungian, and Gestalt therapies, Transactional Analysis, NLP, Voice Dialogue, and Wilber’s Integral AQAL. The intent is not to be inclusive or thorough, but to address our tendency to associate new knowledge with areas with which we are already familiar. The result is often reductionism: we overlook important distinctions in our hurry to reassure ourselves that there is nothing new that will require our time or question our basic world view. Distinctions are important. Discriminations focus awareness, which in turn create wisdom and clarity that support awakening.
