Deep Listening is Lucid Living
The purpose of this blog is to support lucid living, or waking up in all states of being. It will do this by deeply listening to the dreams of those practicing Tibetan Buddhism, to lucid dreams, to waking dreams, and to students of Integral Deep Listening. Waking dreams are archetypal themes, such as UFOs and Armageddon. The goal is to respect and honor all paths while seeing how they can be used to support each other to become better at what each has uniquely to offer.

Greetings,
Congratualitions ones more on your great site!
I would like to suggest something:
I would like to see a section dedicated to the phenomena of consciouss deep sleep!
This is something that, as far as i know, science has not invesigated!
I belive that this is the missing link between science and all the spiritual teachings, and if it could be proven to be somehow a reallity than it would change our understanding. Now, why am i saying this.
You know all the traditions speak about some kind of spiritual – eternal part of us, something that exists after we die, something that is neither born or dies, outside time and space, well as everyone knows todays modern scientists disagree.
So i have searched and searched for years to find this part of myself, and i was allways questioning spiritual views becouse there is a basis for the matherialistic understanding and explenation, right? I mean where is this consciousness that is allways there when we are in deep sleep?! Nowhere, we are nothing in the dep sleep, so i tought maybe science is right, when we die it’s like entering eternal deep sleep- why not, right?
Then is started dreaming lucidly, but still deep sleep is a time where i am not there, total death- nothing.
So i have searched in this direction, and found that there are teachings and methods in the Tibetan and yogic tradition that says: we can be aware in deep sleep- wow!!!
So i have searched some scientific theorie, and found none.
I have found references about these experiences among Transcendental meditation practisioners, and i have also found that as they develop their lucid dreaming they start to withness dreaming, and then they become aware in the deep sleep.
Further i have found that psychologist Paul Tholey said that he was aware in sleep for a period of 5 hours, well no REM lasts this long, so in what state was he aware. This is the direction i belive that people should go and investigate. It could proove that really we are more that yust what we belive and know to be.
I would aslo like to see a good explenation, a chart of SLEEP PERIODS, and a really good explenation on duration of each REM period. This would help alot of people, espetially the ones like me who use a method that i call “play dead”.
Best regards
Matija

Dear Matija,
Your recommendations are excellent. Look for an addition of that category soon. Also, please send me any references and resources you have that I may include on deep sleep lucidity. Blessings, Joseph
